Apples contain flavonoids, quercetin, catechins, Gallic acid, phytochemicals and fiber. They may reduce cancer risk, prevent heart attacks, help prevent cataracts, prohibit recurring gout attacks and speed healing from acid reflux.

Apples have also been shown to reduce the risk of asthma, improve lung function, lower cholesterol, prevent lipid oxidation, and inhibit cell proliferation.
